A Peppermayo shopper has been left horrified after opening an online order to find it was “infested” with insects.

New Zealander Jayd Graham had already unboxed two of three garments she ordered from the popular Aussie fashion brand when she made the nauseating discovery.

“I take the package to my room and open the first dress… open the second dress…then I just start seeing ants everywhere on my bed,” she said in a TikTok.

“Then this is what I found, ant eggs, maggot eggs, I don’t know what the f..k that is, anyway I literally run outside chuck it on the ground.

“I am gagging, that is disgusting. I was supposed to be wearing this dress to a 21st but now I cannot.

“As you can see it’s infested. It makes me wanna gag, it’s disgusting.”

Video panning around the package shows ants crawling inside the plastic bag among clusters of white flecks.

A horrified Ms Graham reached out to Peppermayo and claims the brand initially requested she return the infested dress in exchange for either a 50 per cent store credit to keep the item, a replacement or a refund.

After several emails between the Kiwi and Peppermayo, she has since been offered a full refund, a $400 store credit and a replacement order.

The brand later apologised for the ordeal and said they were “investigating with our courier to find out what had occurred,” according to news.com.au.

While compensation for the ordeal has been settled, Ms Graham contacted Biosecurity New Zealand after people in the comments section raised concerns.

“After some advice and after the comments saying you should contact bio security I did. They came to the house, collected some samples and took the to the lab,” she said.

In a statement provided to PerthNow, Bio Security New Zealand Incursion Investigation Manager Carolyn Bleach confirmed the package had been investigated.

“Biosecurity New Zealand collected a single package of clothing after a notification from an Auckland resident last week,” she said.

“The package contained the ant Iridomyrmex suchieri, which is already present in New Zealand and does not pose any risk.

“Our biosecurity system consists of multiple layers to prevent unwanted pests entering the country. Our border layer includes x-ray scanning, detector dogs, various treatment options and other measures.

“From time to time, pests can get through these defences. This is why we run surveillance programmes and invest in public information, pest management and biosecurity responses.”
