And speaking of tall timber, eyes will be on Pat Voss\u2019 next steps after breaking out last year, while supporters will be hoping the fledgling Jye Amiss can take some steps. Expect reigning Rising Star winner Murphy Reid to push up more around the ball in stints and watch for a Karl Worner breakout campaign in defence. Skipper Patrick Dangerfield recently indicated premiership forward Tyson Stengle is unlikely to be selected for Opening Round after missing a portion of pre-season training due to personal reasons. We\u2019ve gone for Jack Martin over Ollie Henry, while the inclusions of recruit James Worpel and the returning Tanner Bruhn \u2014 who was sidelined by the AFL for the entire 2025 season \u2014 hinders Jhye Clark\u2019s chances. Mark O\u2019Connor, who spent the Australian summer in Ireland helping his local county win three GAA titles, could easily be in the starting line-up against the Lions. Elsewhere, premiership defender Jake Kolodjashnij is recovering well after undergoing surgery on both hips in September, while top 2025 draftee Harley Barker will spend most of 2026 on the sidelines as he was drafted just months after rupturing his ACL. <\/p>\n

How key stopper Charlie Ballard fits back into the backline puzzle after a year away will be intriguing, with Sam Collins, Mac Andrew and Uwland proving a tough code to crack last season.
