Singer Chappell Roan wanted to turn Melbourne\u2019s night-life into her own Pink Pony Club, but could only find a handful of punters to party with on Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n
So much for the city\u2019s much touted vibrant night-life.<\/p>\n
The Grammy award-winning star has hit Melbourne ahead of headlining the Laneway Festival on Friday at Flemington racecourse.<\/p>\n
First stop was CBD hotspot Cherry Bar on Wednesday, drinking some \u201cmocktails\u201d with her crew and forgoing hanging in the cordoned off VIP section.<\/p>\n
Cherry Bar owner James Young said there were only around 17 punters at the bar at the time and that she \u201cwas very modest polite and lovely.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cDidn\u2019t take any pictures of her, cos that would be uncool, but can report that she drank a couple of mocktails and was very modest, polite and lovely,\u201d Young said.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe didn\u2019t hide in the \u2018VIP\u2019 Andy Bar, she stood the whole time at our main bar downstairs. <\/p>\n
\u201cThis means everything. We think she\u2019s the biggest artist on the planet. She just a normal human. Gold.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHer crew were especially supportive of Cherry Bar, so that was nice too.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am so grateful to Laneway Festival for \u201cstimulating\u201d the struggling Melbourne hospitality scene. The world needs people on the streets.\u201d<\/p>\n
Young said he was on the decks DJ\u2019ing at the time and that \u201cit was very satisfying to see Chappell embracing the \u2018local sounds\u2019 of underground Australia\u201d.<\/p>\n
