Eagle-eyed Spurs fans noted that among those to repost a clip from the interview, in which Postecoglou questions the \u2018To Dare Is To Do\u2019 motto, was one of the club\u2019s star strikers, Richarlison. <\/p>\n
Another clip from the interview seemingly caught the attention of former club stalwart Jan Vertonghen, whose account liked the post on Instagram. <\/p>\n
Among other Spurs affiliates to react was Jamie O\u2019Hara \u2014 though the former midfielder was less complimentary towards Postecoglou. <\/p>\n
On Sky Sports, O\u2019Hara was asked to react directly to certain claims made by Postecoglou. <\/p>\n
On Spurs\u2019 lack of ambition in the transfer market, O\u2019Hara said he believed the former boss \u201chas a point\u201d, but raised other concerns. <\/p>\n
\u201cI agree with him in a sense, but there\u2019s different factors as well,\u201d he said. \u201cLike, did those players want to come (to Spurs)?<\/p>\n
\u201cI think he did approach (Antoine) Semenyo … (Eberechi) Eze, we wanted Eze and he wanted to go to Arsenal.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cI get his point. Spurs is a massive football club, they do have to make some marquee signings. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt does make me think about the hierarchy and if they are serious about taking this club to the next level. Are they serious about trying to challenge for proper trophies on a regular basis? Based on what he\u2019s saying, it seems to me maybe it isn\u2019t what it is.\u201d <\/p>\n
One of the most memorable moments of the interview was when host Gary Neville listed other former Spurs managers Antonio Conte, Jose Mourinho, Mauricio Pochettino and Frank. <\/p>\n
\u201cOnly one won something though,\u201d Postecoglou interrupted, referring to himself winning the Europa League last season. <\/p>\n
O\u2019Hara, however, took issue with Postecoglou describing the club\u2019s attitude as being the \u201cantithesis\u201d of daring, calling out his record in the Premier League that saw him get sacked.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe won a trophy but was also absolutely pathetic in the Premier League. No where near good enough,\u201d O\u2019Hara said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe can say we wrote it off that season, but it was a terrible season in terms of the bread and butter .. it was unacceptable.<\/p>\n
\u201cDare Is To Do … it means nothing. I was there and that (saying) wasn\u2019t. You\u2019ve got to go and win … you don\u2019t need a banner on a wall … it\u2019s a load of rubbish.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou go in, you get the work done and go out and perform week in, week out, and Spurs haven\u2019t done that.\u201d <\/p>\n
Elsewhere, British broadcaster Andy Goldstein ripped into Postecoglou on TalkSport\u2019s Drive, calling the interview \u201cdisgraceful\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI couldn\u2019t believe what I was listening to,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s blaming everyone but himself.\u201d<\/p>\n
Goldstein also called him \u201cthe worst Spurs manager in 50 years\u201d, predicting that \u201che will never get another job in the Premier League again\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe reason he got sacked by Spurs, and the reason he got sacked after 39 days at Forest was because he\u2019s not a very good manager,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe never looked at himself once, he never blamed himself once, it was never his fault.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was just stunned. The lack of respect for Tottenham was unbelievable.<\/p>\n
\u201cLook in the mirror mate, look in the mirror.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe will never get another job in the Premier League again.\u201d<\/p>\n
Former England striker Darren Bent offered a rebuttal, pointing out that Postecoglou helped Tottenham win a drought-breaking title.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf someone wins something, you can\u2019t look for every excuse to say it doesn\u2019t matter,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019ve got to give him some credit for winning the Europa League, you have to.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, former Premier League forward Dean Ashton said he found some of Postecoglou\u2019s calls unfair, claiming that the \u2018big club\u2019 image has been projected onto Spurs, rather than coming from within.<\/p>\n
Speaking on Sky Sports News, he said: \u201cI don\u2019t feel like it\u2019s come from the club or the supporters themselves.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel like they\u2019ve even thrown in this mix and now it\u2019s been thrown back at them by the manager that\u2019s left, who to me it feels like a bit of bitterness there.<\/p>\n
\u201cSurely he knew that\u2019s what Tottenham were. It\u2019s not as if that’s suddenly changed. That\u2019s what they were, they developed players but they never went out and spent huge money on the top talent that all the clubs are going to go for.<\/p>\n
