{"id":47793,"date":"2025-08-06T12:19:10","date_gmt":"2025-08-06T12:19:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/47793\/"},"modified":"2025-08-06T12:19:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-06T12:19:10","slug":"blue-jays-select-buddy-kennedy-to-roster-dfa-ali-sanchez","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/47793\/","title":{"rendered":"Blue Jays select Buddy Kennedy to roster, DFA Ali Sanchez"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/baseball\/mlb\/teams\/toronto-blue-jays\/\" class=\"sn-team-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-team=\"toronto-blue-jays\" data-league=\"mlb\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> will have a new face in the dugout for Tuesday&#8217;s game against the Colorado Rockies. <\/p>\n<p>Toronto selected infielder Buddy Kennedy to its major league roster on Tuesday, the team announced. <\/p>\n<p>In a corresponding move, the Blue Jays announced that catcher Ali Sanchez has been designated for assignment. <\/p>\n<p>The Blue Jays signed the 26-year-old Kennedy to a minor-league contract after he was released from the Philadelphia Phillies&#8217; 40-man roster in early July. <\/p>\n<p>In 16 games with triple-A Buffalo since joining the Blue Jays organization, Kennedy has slashed .207\/.309\/.259. <\/p>\n<p>With the return of Alejandro Kirk and Tyler Heineman avoiding a concussion after taking a foul tip on Saturday, the Blue Jays decided to designate Sanchez, their third-string catcher, for assignment. <\/p>\n<p>Sanchez, 28, appeared in eight games for the Blue Jays this season and had a .238\/.238\/.333 slash line. <\/p>\n<p>The Blue Jays will look to build on a 25-hit performance against the Rockies on Monday in the second game of the three-game set Tuesday night.
