Speaking to Channel 9 after the final, James declared he was \u201creally proud\u201d of his achievement, but couldn\u2019t help but feel \u201ca little bit disappointed\u201d having once again missed out on gold.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s hard to win medals at the Games,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have big ambitions and wanted to come away landing the run regardless of the medal, and I wasn\u2019t able to do that.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is what it is, and the show goes on. The sun will rise tomorrow.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy little boy will need me tomorrow. He won\u2019t care what medals are on my neck.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cI\u2019m happy to be out here representing the country, most importantly, and to be able to win another medal is amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old then delivered a message to his Australian supporters back home.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo everyone back in Aus, love you, thank you. It\u2019s been a hell of a ride, and I\u2019m sorry I couldn\u2019t get it done for you, but we keep going,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI could cry, honestly. I\u2019m holding back tears a little bit. I really wanted to win for you all, for my family and my friends, and I was unable to do that.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt sounds silly to apologise for winning an Olympic medal, but I\u2019m okay to wear my heart on my sleeve and be real about what I wanted out of tonight.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe keep fighting. That\u2019s what we do as Aussies.\u201d<\/p>\n
Asked what his 15-year-old self would think of his career achievements, James responded with a smile: \u201cHe\u2019d say, \u2018Put a bloody smile on your face, you sook, and go and have a beer. Life\u2019s not so bad.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cHe would also say, \u2018Just keep chipping away.\u2019 I love what I\u2019m doing. I love this sport. I love the competition.\u201d<\/p>\n

James also confirmed he had no retirement plans at this stage.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ll keep going,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI love it, and to be honest, I still feel like I\u2019m in the prime.<\/p>\n
\u201cI tried my best, as I do all the time, and I came up second best, which is still amazing.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel like I can still spearheading this sport, and I plan to do so well into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
