Sony Pictures has announced plans for yet another feature film revival of the \u201cCharlie\u2019s Angels\u201d franchise.<\/p>\n

THR<\/a> reports that Pete Chiarelli, the writer who adapted \u201cCrazy Rich Asians\u201d for the screen along with the well-received Sandra Bullock-Ryan Reynolds rom-com \u201cThe Proposal,\u201d has been hired to pen the script.<\/p>\n

The project is reportedly in development now, with one source telling the trade that Drew Barrymore and her Flower Films production banner are back for this version.<\/p>\n

Barrymore famously co-starred in and produced the two major \u201cCharlie\u2019s Angels\u201d films in the early 2000s, but wasn\u2019t a part of the 2019 Elizabeth Banks-directed reboot starring Kristen Stewart and Naomi Scott that fizzled at the box-office.<\/p>\n

Sony has no official comment on the project. The original series, about three ass-kicking women working for a private detective agency, began as a late 1970s ABC TV series that became a pop culture sensation.<\/p>\n

The 2000 film adaptation starred Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu and Bill Murray and became a smash hit, prompting a sequel. A TV series revival took place in 2011 with Minka Kelly, Rachael Taylor and Ramon Rodriguez among its stars, but lasted just seven episodes.<\/p>\n

The 2019 film marks the last attempt. Chiarelli has a screen story credit on the animated feature \u201cGoat\u201d hitting cinemas today.<\/p>\n
