FROM THE GATORS’ MOUTHS

Sophomore Nikola Daubnerova (lone returner from a year ago) on how she feels like the team is gelling heading into SEC play next week …

“The fall [season] was kind of great for me and five of my teammates since we got to know each other and practice together. For me, I was lucky enough to play the fall with my double’s partner for example, so that’s been to our advantage. We did have two other girls join us in January, and I think they’ve adapted to college tennis and everything else so well. The atmosphere in the locker room is great, as are our practices, and I think we were able to show it today. It was a really long day, but I think we brought it to both matches in both doubles and singles. There’s still new things that we’re learning about each other every day, but we’re getting better every single day. [Head Coach] Per [Nilsson] and [Assistant Coach] Axel [Damiens] are doing a great job preparing us. Obviously the SEC is the toughest conference. We have so many great schools. I loved playing in conference play last year, and I think we’re going to do great things. I’m very excited and hopeful for the season.”
