Tensions simmered during the men\u2019s curling match between Canada and reigning champions Sweden at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics on Friday evening, headlined by a profanity-laced argument and cheating accusations.<\/p>\n

Drama erupted at the ninth end of Canada\u2019s 8-6 victory, with Sweden\u2019s Oskar Eriksson accusing Canadian third Marc Kennedy of touching the rock after releasing it at the hog line.<\/p>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t done it once,\u201d Kennedy responded.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can f*** off.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eriksson responded: \u201cYou haven\u2019t done it once? I\u2019ll show you video after the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll show you a video where it\u2019s two metres over the hog line.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kennedy continued: \u201cI don\u2019t give a s***.\u201d<\/p>\n

Section 5E of the curling rule book states: \u201cA stone must be clearly released from the hand before it reaches the hog line at the delivery end. If the player fails to do so, the stone is immediately removed from play by the delivering team.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the issue was first raised during the game, umpires were set at the hog line to monitor deliveries for the following three ends.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were no hog line violations or retouches of the stone during the observation,\u201d World Curling said in a statement.<\/p>\n

However, footage later circulated on social media that showed Kennedy seemingly touching the rock with his index finger after it reached the hog line.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey might be grasping for straws,\u201d Kennedy told reporters after the match.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t like being accused of cheating, so I told him what I thought of it.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s good for sport, it gets heated out there, it\u2019s a battle, we\u2019ve played each other a million times.\u201d<\/p>\n

For the Milan-Cortina Games, World Curling has added electronic handles on the stones that flash red if players are still making contact beyond the hog line.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s hog line devices on there, and he\u2019s still accusing us of cheating,\u201d Kennedy continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t like it, so I told him where to stick it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Canada lead Ben Hebert added: \u201cThey were frustrated, so they were just trying to get in our heads a little bit and it didn\u2019t work. We\u2019re 3-0. They\u2019re 0-3.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Eriksson later claimed that Sweden\u2019s players believed Kennedy was touching the stone rather than the handle, which contains the sensor.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe asked who we thought was over the hog line and I pointed out who we thought was touching the rock,\u201d Eriksson said.<\/p>\n
