LAKELAND, Fla. — Former Detroit Tigers first baseman Keston Hiura<\/a> has signed a minor-league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a> and received an invitation to spring training. <\/p>\n

Hiura, 29, has played in parts of six seasons for three MLB teams, including a brief stint with the Colorado Rockies last summer.<\/p>\n

Hiura\u00a0signed with the Tigers at the start of spring training<\/a>\u00a0in 2024 after having spent his entire career to that point in the Milwaukee Brewers organization.<\/p>\n

He spent the first two months of that season as the everyday first baseman at Triple-A Toledo, but\u00a0lost his job and was released<\/a>\u00a0after\u00a0Spencer Torkelson was demoted<\/a> in June.<\/p>\n

Hiura\u00a0signed a minor-league deal with the Los Angeles Angels<\/a>\u00a0a few days later, on June 12, and was\u00a0promoted to the big leagues on July 5, 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n

His first stint in the big leagues since 2022 didn\u2019t go well. Hiura was 4-for-27 with no extra-base hits and 10 strikeouts in 10 games with the Angels before being DFA\u2019d.<\/p>\n

Hiura\u00a0signed a minor-league deal with the Rockies<\/a>\u00a0before the 2025 season and had nine home runs in 200 plate appearances for Triple-A Albuquerque before a late May call-up.<\/p>\n

Hiura was drafted in the first round (9th overall) out of UC-Irvine in 2017 and was a consensus top-20 prospect going into the 2019 season.
