Image: InSyde Media \/ Supplied <\/p>\n<p>Delivered in record time, the museum\u2019s latest exhibit is a piece of the right-front bumper from the #32 Team WRT BMW.<\/p>\n<p>The car received minor damage at Hell Corner on the opening lap, before a kangaroo strike a short time later caused bigger issues.<\/p>\n<p>That contact left the BMW shedding parts and triggered a mechanical black flag pit stop that dropped the Jordan Pepper\/Kelvin Van Der Linde\/Charles Weerts\u00a0machine off the lead lap.<\/p>\n<p>It was an early blow for the reigning winning entry, which is this year decked out in the colours of a BMW Art Car produced by Australian artist Ken Done for the manufacturer in the early 1990s.<\/p>\n<p>The National Motor Racing Museum\u2019s quick-thinking curator Brad Owen managed to snap up the piece via the team and have it hung on the wall within 90 minutes of being on the car in the race.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was over behind the pit garage grabbing a coffee when the car came in,\u201d Owen recounted to Speedcafe.<\/p>\n<p>Limited edition Full Credit Papaya Rules &amp; Race Day Sunday merch drops now live! <a href=\"https:\/\/shop.fcttn.com\/?utm_source=speedcafe&amp;utm_medium=textlink&amp;utm_campaign=ad\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Click here to shop.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought, that\u2019s a really iconic thing, it\u2019s got a great Australian link and a story, I\u2019ll go and ask the question.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the mechanics who was cleaning it up and taking the useful parts off the front-end went and spoke to somebody and they were happy to put it on display.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wandered back and put it up with some of the other remnants of the 12 Hour we\u2019ve been lucky enough to have from over the year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Owen affirmed it\u2019s the first time the museum has added a piece from a race that remains in motion.<\/p>\n<p>The National Motor Racing Museum is positioned on the outside of the circuit at Murray\u2019s Corner and is open today until 4:30pm.<\/p>\n<p><a data-bid=\"1\" data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/t.cfjump.com\/92797\/b\/285241\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none; vertical-align: middle;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/285241.gif\" alt=\"\"\/><br \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A piece of the BMW Art Car is already in the museum.
