George Murphy will be a DNF after coming unstuck and coming off the track. He was up against USA’s Dylan Walczyk, who is through to the quarterfinals.<\/p>\n

Another wonderful Games from Murphy. To even get into the round of eight is very, very hard work.<\/p>\n

Just Matt Graham as the sole Aussie left.<\/p>\n

Woods is out of the finals\"Marnie<\/p>\n

Cooper Woods is out. He started strongly but wasn’t able to hit his second jump with the speed he was going. He was up against USA’s Charlie Mickel.<\/p>\n

It’s been a huge couple of days for the Aussie who will properly be able to let his hair down now and celebrate his gold from the individual moguls.<\/p>\n

This is a game he’ll never forget!<\/p>\n

Aussie Harvey is out :'(\"Marnie<\/p>\n

Jackson Harvey is unfortunately out of the men’s dual moguls after just coming out of his line. He wasn’t able to handle the speed out of the first jump.<\/p>\n

He was up against a heavyweight in Sweden’s Walter Wallberg, who goes through to the quarterfinals.<\/p>\n

A great games from Harvey nonetheless!<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the top seed Julien Viel is also out after a crash. He’s ok but a DNF.<\/p>\n

Oh, this is so tense – and moving so quickly.<\/p>\n

Aussie Matt Graham is through to the round of eight! He beat Japan’s Nishizawa Taketo quite comfortably.<\/p>\n

Fellow Aussie George Murphy also made it through after France’s Benjamin Cavet (a favourite in the event) made an error.<\/p>\n

My heart rate is UP.<\/p>\n

Medal looking unlikely for bobsled Bree\"Marnie<\/p>\n

Bree Walker will have to have a blinder to win a monobob medal from here. She currently sits in 11th place after the first heat.<\/p>\n

Last Games in Beijing, she was 12th after the first run and managed to battle back to fifth. But a medal looking really unlikely.<\/p>\n

Still, we’re all behind her.<\/p>\n

Aussie Jackson Harvey with some textbook skiing has beaten Japan’s Fujiki Goshin of Japan to make it to the next stage.<\/p>\n

He’ll now head back to the top of the slopes for the round of eight.<\/p>\n

Men’s dual moguls about to get underway with four Aussies\"Marnie<\/p>\n

Ok, time to lock in Australia!<\/p>\n

Cooper Woods is back in action after his gold in the men’s moguls for the men’s dual moguls. You may remember the event from Jakara Anthony winning gold in it yesterday in the women’s!\ud83e\udd47<\/p>\n

Woods will be competing in the green and gold alongside Matt Graham, Jackson Harvey and George Murphy.<\/p>\n

Disciplines all pretty spaced out\"Marnie<\/p>\n

In the Summer Olympics, you have swimming in the first week where certain countries tend to pick up a fair bit of bling. Then in the 2nd week the athletics follows which tends to favour different countries.
\nIs there an equivalent in the Winter Olympics, where some countries dominate certain periods of the games? Or is the schedule pretty mixed the whole way through?<\/p>\n

Great question, Alison!<\/p>\n

So, for Winters, it’s pretty mixed all the way.<\/p>\n

All the different disciplines are pretty spaced out – you get alpine all the way through, cross county and biathlon have a heap of events that stretch out.<\/p>\n

Then a lot of the team events that have round robin or prelim stages, ice hockey, curling, etc, will start to medal in the second week.<\/p>\n

Bobsled Bree mistakes a few errors in first run of heats\"Marnie<\/p>\n

Aussie Bree Walker has had her first run in the women’s monobob.<\/p>\n

Just nicked the edges twice and had a few mistakes here and there to finish with a time of 1:00.19. She would have been hoping to get the run in within 60 seconds, but there’ll be plenty to take away from that first run for her next one.<\/p>\n

She’s currently sitting third out of three competitors (she went second).<\/p>\n

Just a PSA: The men’s snowboard slopestyle qualifiers have been shifted from tomorrow to today as they’re expecting 1.5 metres of snow tomorrow when they were originally scheduled.<\/p>\n

Let’s hope our reporters over there have their biggest and warmest snow jackets ready to tackle this week.<\/p>\n

Let’s revisit that Cooper Woods gold shall we\"Marnie<\/p>\n

“He came from nowhere!!!!” my friends collective texted me after 25-year-old Cooper Woods from Meriumbula became an expected Winter Olympics champion last week.<\/p>\n

Woods claiming the gold medal in the men’s mogul event in Livigno.<\/p>\n

The surprise came as he doesn’t have the same track record (well not anymore) of success as his peers at the highest level.<\/p>\n

Beside him in the super final was Mika\u00ebl Kingsbury, who has won 100 FIS World Cup events, Ikuma Horishima 24, Matt Graham five and Walter Wallberg four. Meanwhile, Woods has just one silver medal to his name.<\/p>\n

Now, he’s Australia’s seventh Winter Olympics champion – ever.<\/p>\n

And he’s back on the slopes men’s dual moguls in just over in hour.<\/p>\n
