After the Crown\u00a0Australian Open\u00a0briefly claimed bragging rights in 2025 thanks to\u00a0Rory McIlroy\u00a0headlining a star-studded week at\u00a0Royal Melbourne Golf Club, the South Australian showpiece has reclaimed its mantle as the most attended golf event in the nation\u2019s history.<\/p>\n

That total had edged past LIV Adelaide\u2019s 102,000 total in 2025 \u2013 but only temporarily.<\/p>\n LIV Golf Adelaide\u2019s switch to four days and 72 holes (from its original 3-day, 54-hole format) and a Sunday surge that included the marquee pairing of Kim, Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau, has restored LIV\u2019s Aussie stopover to the top of the all-time attendance charts.<\/p>\n Malinauskas expanded further in a statement released at the conclusion of the tournament: \u201cThis attendance sets a new record that everyone in South Australia and sports fans around the country can be very proud of. This a showcase of not just world-class golf, but of South Australia.<\/p>\n \u201cI take the opportunity to thank The Grange Golf Club and all their members. You have been our host and you\u2019ve been very generous ones at that.<\/p>\n \u201cIn terms of the partnership with LIV Golf, it goes from strength to strength. We\u2019re exceptionally optimistic about the future and you can see why.\u201d<\/p>\n Saturday\u2019s play welcomed 38,500 patrons, the highest-single day figure in LIV Golf history, leaving its chief executive officer Scott O\u2019Neil in a jovial mood.<\/p>\n \u201cI want to thank the fans of Australia,\u201d said O\u2019Neil. \u201cThere is something really special, almost magical, about the experience when you walk through this course.
