He was on Meta\u2019s large language model team when GPT-2 and GPT-3 dropped. He got early access to GPT-4 and used it to co-found Harvey with his then roommate Winston Weinberg, a junior litigator at O\u2019Melveny &amp; Myers.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.capitalbrief.com\/newsletter\/harveys-brief-28e8e2f4-24d9-412e-8024-e028c4349efc\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">buzzy legal AI startup<\/a>, which is backed by Sequoia and OpenAI, now operates in more than 60 countries, including Australia where it opened an office in September last year and already has a team of 20.<\/p>\n<p>So as markets panic about whether AI will devour the software industry \u2014 with tech stocks sliding, enterprise SaaS under pressure and Anthropic\u2019s launch of a legal plugin fuelling fresh anxiety about vertical disruption \u2014 Pereyra is unusually well placed to weigh in.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Capital Brief in Sydney on the final day of his Australian visit last week, his view is more calibrated than the headlines suggest.
