Police have concluded another day of searches at the family\u2019s Oak Park Station as the investigation into Gus\u2019 disappearance intensifies.<\/p>\n
Task Force Horizon detectives are expected to continue searching in the remote Yunta region on Tuesday as inquiries continue.<\/p>\n
South Australian Police have now identified a suspect in Gus\u2019s disappearance<\/a>, more than four months after the little boy vanished from the outback sheep station on September 27.<\/p>\n Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke said investigators had uncovered \u201cinconsistencies and discrepancies\u201d in information provided by family members, prompting a major shift in the case.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have identified a person of interest,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cThat person, who resides at Oak Park Station, has withdrawn their support for police and is no longer co-operating. That person is now considered a suspect in the disappearance of Gus.\u201d<\/p>\n Police emphasised the suspect is not either of Gus\u2019 parents.<\/p>\n A comprehensive forensic search of the homestead has already been completed, with officers seizing a vehicle, a motorcycle and several electronic devices. Fielke confirmed the case has now been formally declared a major crime.<\/p>\n Gus was last seen playing outside the homestead while his grandmother cared for his younger brother inside.<\/p>\n Despite one of the state\u2019s largest search operations \u2014 involving police, SES volunteers, Indigenous trackers, drones and helicopters \u2014 no trace of the child has been found.
