South Australian police have inspected an outhouse with freshly laid cement and a water tank as part of the latest search for missing four-year-old Gus Lamont in the state\u2019s Mid North.<\/p>\n

Detectives are nearing the end of a two-day operation, with no evidence located so far.<\/p>\n

On the second day, Task Force Horizon officers turned their attention to a neighbouring property owned by Gus\u2019 family, about 30 kilometres west of Oak Park Station, where the boy vanished almost five months ago.<\/p>\n

Officers scoured a remote section of a sheep station, examined a water tank and inspected an outhouse where fresh cement had recently been poured.<\/p>\n

A cadaver dog trained to detect human remains was brought in from New South Wales to assist the search.<\/p>\n

Police later moved to a property at Grampus, about 24 kilometres from Oak Park, where major crime detectives were seen combing through the yard and homestead. No evidence connected to Gus\u2019 disappearance was found at either location.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the day, a police helicopter left Peterborough Aerodrome bound for the Pualco Range Conservation Park, south of Yunta, as part of the coordinated search effort.<\/p>\n

The operation is expected to conclude today, and 7News understands officers will maintain a presence in the area.<\/p>\n

Gus was last seen on September 27, police were told that he was last seen playing outside the main homestead while his grandmother cared for his younger brother inside.<\/p>\n

Major Crime\u2019s officer in charge, Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke, confirmed police cannot rule out that Gus was still on the 60,000-hectare property when officers reached the homestead on the night of September 27.<\/p>\n

\u201cPolice were on scene quite quickly when they were advised that Gus was missing.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, there was some time in between, but it is possible.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re still working on that (original) timeline.\u201d<\/p>\n

The timeline put forward is now under intense scrutiny.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, police arrested and charged Gus\u2019 75-year-old grandmother, Josie Murray, with firearm offences.<\/p>\n

Authorities have stated the charges are not linked to the child\u2019s disappearance.
