{"id":486297,"date":"2026-02-17T18:49:08","date_gmt":"2026-02-17T18:49:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/486297\/"},"modified":"2026-02-17T18:49:08","modified_gmt":"2026-02-17T18:49:08","slug":"lighter-colored-boards-replace-dark-ones-in-the-hockey-arenas-at-the-olympics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/486297\/","title":{"rendered":"Lighter-colored boards replace dark ones in the hockey arenas at the Olympics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">MILAN (AP) \u2014 The hockey arenas at the Milan Cortina Olympics got a new look as the knockout round of the men\u2019s tournament got underway Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The boards encasing the rinks are now light blue and green after the NHL and the NHL Players\u2019 Association made the case to the International Olympic Committee to make a change from the dark color during the preliminary round.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Players talked to the league and union about the boards after each team\u2019s first practice in Milan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">U.S. goaltender Jeremy Swayman lost sight of the puck in the boards and the stands during his one round-robin game in net against Denmark.
