Camera IconMichael with sponsor Mark Gaskin. Credit: Amy Winter Photography<\/p>\nThree Perth housemates have turned their sporting dreams into reality, stepping onto the field at HBF Park during half-time of a Western Force game representing Perth Rugby Club\u2019s All Abilities program.<\/p>\n
Neil, Fenton and Michael, who share a home and are supported by disability services provider Rocky Bay, are passionate members of Perth Bayswater Rugby Club\u2019s All Abilities Team, which offers the chance to experience the camaraderie, fitness, and the sense of belonging that comes along with playing sport.<\/p>\n
They have all just completed their second season.<\/p>\n
For Michael, running out onto the same field where he once sat as a spectator was particularly special.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a kid, I used to sit in the stands and watch the Force play,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI never thought I\u2019d get the chance to play on that field. It was a dream come true.\u201d<\/p>\n

The moment was just as significant for his housemates.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe best part was hearing everyone cheering for us,\u201d Fenton said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had so much fun,\u201d Neil said.<\/p>\n
While the experience was unforgettable, the program is more than rugby.<\/p>\n
Joining the team has helped the three men stay active, make friends, become part of a team and connect with others in the wider community.<\/p>\n
Coach and All Abilities co-ordinator Kylie Mason said they were so proud of how far the trio had come.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey are an integral part of our club and really love learning the skills of rugby while having heaps of fun.\u201d Ms Mason said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe opportunities are endless and we are here to support them reach their goals. Game day is packed with connection, teamwork and huge smiles.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rocky Bay CEO Michael Trait said seeing their customers shine on and off the field was what inclusion was all about.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur role is to open doors and help people live the life they choose,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
