Cleaning the house isn\u2019t one of those activities anyone really yearns for, but thanks to robotic appliances, it is something that you can make a little bit easier.<\/p>\n

We certainly see a few, and in the past year, the category has been growing wildly. There are lots of players and lots of tech designed to suck up your gunk automatically, and then mop the floors after it\u2019s done.<\/p>\n

Think of them as maintenance cleaners so you don\u2019t have to, because that is arguably what they\u2019re designed to do.<\/p>\n

And one of our favourite models from the past year or so is about to get an upgrade, and a lot more tech, as well.<\/p>\n

Roborock\u2019s Qrevo Edge grabbed our attention<\/a> previously, and its latest aims to do it again, upgrading the vacuum and mopping systems, while also improving the tracking tech and design.<\/p>\n

The new model is the Qrevo Edge 2 Pro, and while we won\u2019t ask what makes it \u201cPro\u201d this time, we\u2019ll assume a model sans-pro is on the way for later in the year.<\/p>\n

Right now, the Edge 2 Pro is designed as a clear upgrade from its Edge sibling, supporting a LiDAR sensor mapping system that can be retracted into a 7.98cm design, distinct from the sensor that always remained extruded on the original. <\/p>\n

Its ability to retract means the vacuum can slide under couches, beds, and other furniture where overhang is a thing, a problem because not every robotic vacuum can manage that.<\/p>\n

When dust is encountered, the Edge 2 Pro uses 25,000 Pa of force to suck things up, taking with it fine particles and even pet hair, while the mop system uses a combination of warm water and pressure on two spinning mop pads to clean the surfaces.<\/p>\n

The system also includes a 100 degree Celsius hot water mop washing to deal with any grease or microbes the mopping pads have picked up, while a burst of 55 degree Celsius hot air will dry the pads, potentially locking out odours. <\/p>\n

That\u2019s important, because simply washing and drying those mop pads can mean a smell you can\u2019t easily get rid of without resorting to a handmade combination of vinegar and effort, leaving you with the job of emptying the mop tank<\/a> rather than cleaning the mops.<\/p>\n

Perhaps the most interesting aspect is the approach to convenience Roborock is taking, as its AI evolves to support obstacle recognition with over 200 objects, plus certification for cleaning floors where pets live, and also where infants crawl.<\/p>\n

That may seem small, but it means Roborock\u2019s dock, vac, and mop system are effectively focused on small particles and high temperature cleaning, making for homes where individuals might be a touch more sensitive, or even just kids.<\/p>\n

Pricing for the Qrevo Edge 2 Pro is on the high-ish side for a robo vac-mop combo, though, set to launch shortly for $2799 in Australia.<\/p>\n
