{"id":489370,"date":"2026-02-19T04:38:08","date_gmt":"2026-02-19T04:38:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/489370\/"},"modified":"2026-02-19T04:38:08","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T04:38:08","slug":"sources-mariners-mitch-garver-agree-on-minor-league-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/489370\/","title":{"rendered":"Sources: Mariners, Mitch Garver agree on minor league deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SEATTLE &#8212; The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/sea\/seattle-mariners\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mariners<\/a> and catcher <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/33667\/mitch-garver\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mitch Garver<\/a> have reached agreement on a minor league contract, sources told ESPN&#8217;s Jeff Passan on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Garver, 35, is expected to compete with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/36170\/andrew-knizner\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Andrew Knizner<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/40702\/jhonny-pereda\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jhonny Pereda<\/a> to back up Seattle catcher <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/41292\/cal-raleigh\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cal Raleigh<\/a>, the runner-up for AL MVP last year.
