{"id":490200,"date":"2026-02-19T13:28:10","date_gmt":"2026-02-19T13:28:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/490200\/"},"modified":"2026-02-19T13:28:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T13:28:10","slug":"callum-braley-scrum-half-to-make-gloucester-return-in-prem-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/490200\/","title":{"rendered":"Callum Braley: Scrum-half to make Gloucester return in Prem Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Bristol-born Braley has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/rugby-union\/60232659\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">15 international caps for the Azzurri<\/a>, qualifying through his Italian grandfather. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">But after two years with the United Rugby Championship side he returned to the UK and has struggled to pin down a permanent club. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He spent two seasons with Northampton, but made just 18 appearances &#8211; and only two during 2023-24. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Short-term stints at Saracens and Cardiff followed last season but again resulted in just one outing for each club. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Having his experience training with us the last six weeks has been great,&#8221; Woodman added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;I think he&#8217;s just loved the fact he can come back in, follow a schedule. He&#8217;s always a fit character anyway, so just being in and around a group again, those things are really important.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Whether you&#8217;ve unfortunately been forced out of the game through no opportunities for you or you&#8217;re coming to retirement, but being in and around a group of players is good for you on two fronts &#8211; mentally and physically &#8211; so I think he&#8217;s loved it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Gloucester go into the game against the Sharks off the back of a 48-14 defeat by Exeter, to leave them third in the group with two games to go.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Bristol-born Braley has 15 international caps for the Azzurri, qualifying through his Italian grandfather.
