The GWS injury crisis will bring out the best in coach Adam Kingsley.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s the view of former Port Adelaide mentor Ken Hinkley, who expects the Giants to be motivated by their monumental pre-season challenge.<\/p>\n
Tom Greene (ACL), Sam Taylor (hamstring), Finn Callaghan (hip) and Toby Bedford (hamstring) have all been all sidelined in a nightmare week.<\/p>\n
But Hinkley is backing Kingsley to use the \u201creal challenging task\u201d as fuel for the Giants.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think the game is more than who plays who on a day, it\u2019s what\u2019s available to you on the day, where you play them at, what quality is available,\u201d Hinkley said at the Kayo season launch.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you look at GWS right now, I think they\u2019re going to have three of their best five players in my view unavailable round 1.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat makes it a real challenging task for them, but it doesn\u2019t mean they can\u2019t win because \u2018Kingers\u2019 will get them flying.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019ll get them up and about and that\u2019s what he\u2019ll use to motivate them \u2026 They\u2019ve got a massively deep list so they should be OK.\u201d<\/p>\n
GWS has had one of the best lists in the competition but has fallen short in finals \u2013 headlined by a straight sets exit in 2024 after being in two winning positions against Sydney and Brisbane.<\/p>\n
The Giants released a documentary via Channel 7 last week that lifted the curtain on a brutal spray Kingsley delivered at half time of a match against Sydney.<\/p>\n
Hinkley says there\u2019s still room for \u201ca bake\u201d and the players\u2019 response is why he has confidence the Giants can overcome their injury setbacks.<\/p>\n
\u201cIs it still in game to give a bake? Yeah, it\u2019s still in the game, it\u2019s good,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a bit of fun and that\u2019s why you build such tight relationships with your playing group, you do that for those moments you need to lean on good or bad.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhether it\u2019s to give them a bake or give them a pat on the back, you build up the relationship because they know you care.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat GWS team knew \u2018Kingers\u2019 was in their corner and how much he cares, he was just disappointed in that moment but the response \u2026 it was clear they played for him.\u201d<\/p>\n
