{"id":492532,"date":"2026-02-20T14:08:08","date_gmt":"2026-02-20T14:08:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/492532\/"},"modified":"2026-02-20T14:08:08","modified_gmt":"2026-02-20T14:08:08","slug":"long-time-motogp-race-director-steps-into-new-role-as-replacement-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/492532\/","title":{"rendered":"Long-time MotoGP race director steps into new role as replacement announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Long-time MotoGP race director Mike Webb will take on a new role for the 2026 season, with Graham Webber announced as his replacement.<\/p>\n<p>Former racer Webb took over as race director from the 2012 season, having previously held roles as technical director and as a crew chief in the premier class.<\/p>\n<p>Though <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MotoGP<\/a> reshuffled its race direction process in the wake of the 2015 Sepang fallout between Marc Marquez and Valentino Rossi, introducing the FIM stewards panel, Webb continued as race director.<\/p>\n<p>However, from the 2026 season, he will become race direction coordinator, as Graham Webber steps into the role of race director.<\/p>\n<p>Webber previously served as race director for the Moto2, Moto3 and MotoE classes, and was deputy race director last season.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>Race direction will now be helmed by Webber, while his former deputy role has been taken by former Dorna (now MotoGP SEG) media member Jack Gorst.<\/p>\n<p>Bartolome Alfonso &#8211;
