The speculation around Marnus van der Merwe\u2019s future has come to an end with Munster securing the Springboks hooker\u2019s services.<\/p>\n
The 29-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the club and the IRFU and he will link up with the side ahead of the 2026\/27 season, subject to being granted a valid work permit.<\/p>\n
Van der Merwe\u2019s contract with the Scarlets expires at the end of this season and he had been linked with moves to the Sharks and Lions.<\/p>\n

However, he has turned down a return to South Africa<\/a> in favour of remaining in the north, signing with Munster<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Irish province also beat the likes of Prem club Gloucester and French giants club Clermont to his signature too.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m excited and honoured to be joining such a prestigious club, with such a proud rugby history.
