According to a new report from ScreenRant<\/a>, published on Tuesday, Feb. 17, the bioengineering company unveiled previously unseen footage at the grand opening of its Dallas headquarters, showing the fully grown wolves moving together through snow and sharing a meal \u2014 a sign, executives say, of both physical maturity and social stability.<\/p>\n Courtesy Colossal Biosciences<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019re good at the hunting part, but they\u2019re bad at the killing part, so they brought back a very live bunny,\u201d Matt James, Colossal\u2019s chief animal officer, told the outlet, recalling one of the wolves\u2019 first successful chases.<\/p>\n Since then, he said, the wolves \u2014 Romulus, Remus, and Khaleesi \u2014 have improved. “They’ve really mastered bunnies,” James shared, noting that the wolves are now attempting to pursue larger prey, including deer. While it remains unclear whether they’ve completed a full deer hunt, the dire wolves’ natural coordination and instincts appear to be present.<\/p>\n For the first time, James said, the team believes it is looking at fully mature animals. “I think we see a full-grown dire wolf for the first time, which is really neat,” he added, explaining that the animals’ weight gain has leveled off.<\/p>\n Courtesy Colossal Biosciences<\/p>\n The older wolves were cautiously introduced to their sister last year<\/a>, initially meeting one at a time under close supervision. Now, James confirmed, “Khaleesi’s full time with the boys now, which is really good.” The trio eats, plays, and attempts hunts together on a 2,000-acre managed site overseen by a 10-person care team.<\/p>\n The animals recently completed comprehensive annual exams, including CT scans, MRIs, and full physical evaluations. \u201cEverybody looked really happy and healthy,\u201d James explained, adding that the results are encouraging for plans to grow the pack.<\/p>\n Colossal CEO Ben Lamm confirmed the company is working on producing more dire wolf pups, though James emphasized expansion will be measured. \u201cI\u2019m the brakes in this situation,\u201d he said, citing space, staffing, and facility needs.<\/p>\n Courtesy Colossal Biosciences<\/p>\n The animals’ nutrition has also evolved. Rather than daily feedings, the wolves now follow a “fast and gorge” pattern designed to mimic wild behavior, sometimes going days without food before consuming large portions, such as a deer quarter.
