(Supplied: Kaye-Maree Hinton)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;It was one of the last things we shared that wasn&#8217;t hospital-related,&#8221; Ms Hinton said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;To be able to bring it home was just the most amazing thing ever.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Beyond clinical careLoading&#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The quilt was made as part of a program known as Ray of Sunshine Quilts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">It began in 2015 after a nurse placed a bright patchwork quilt on the bed of one of her patients and noticed how much it lifted their spirits, and those of their visitors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Sally Drury was in charge of the Manning Hospital palliative care unit at the time and wondered if it would be possible to gift a handmade quilt to all the unit&#8217;s patients.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">She reached out to the Taree Craft Club and then-president Pam Eyb helped secure support from three lower Mid North Coast quilting clubs.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"An older man and two older woman stand in a craft centre, smiling.\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/04d8584edebb608c5b2c752d64b9c0a7.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Pam Eyb, pictured (centre) with husband Allan and Taree Craft Centre president Colleen Brown, helped start the project.
