Married At First Sight bride Gia Fleur has revealed she was forced to change her name due to a “domestic violence” issue after being exposed by co-star Danny Hewitt.<\/p>\n

During an appearance on Stan’s MAFS: After The Dinner Party, groom Danny claimed he was more trustworthy than Gia because her real name was Cassandra.<\/p>\n

The pair have been locked in a bitter feud after Brook Crompton claimed that Danny had told Gia he was “100% his type” while the cast spent a night out together, when they weren’t being filmed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He denied this was true during last week’s dinner party before joining Stan’s spin-off show and doubling down on his denial.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Why should you believe me? You don’t know me, you’ve seen me on TV for a few hours,” he said.<\/p>\n

“Same with Gia. Obviously she’s less credible than me, her real name isn’t even Gia, it’s Cassandra.<\/p>\n

“We’re talking about a woman who has changed her name 12 times.”<\/p>\n

Gia has now revealed she changed her name to Gianna Fleur Symonds due to safety concerns.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“It’s a very sensitive topic. I actually changed my name because of a domestic violence situation I was in,” she told Daily Mail.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

“It was a very dangerous situation and things have happened to me in my past. So people bringing that up as something to laugh about and joke about is not okay.”<\/p>\n

She said she had never tried to hide the fact Gia was not her birth name but denied she changed it “to be cool”.<\/p>\n

“My brother’s also changed his name to maintain his privacy. It’s something to do with my family and it’s really insensitive that people are going around and doing this sort of stuff,” she added.<\/p>\n

Gia was also expected to appear on the MAFS spin-off series and confront Danny and Bec Zacharia’s accusations against her, but was forced to pull out after being rushed to hospital.<\/p>\n

After being excused of “chickening out”, Gia took to social media to explain why she missed the chance to prove she had not been lying about Danny’s comments.<\/p>\n

“Last week I was invited to appear and flew to Sydney with every intention of attending,” she said.<\/p>\n

“Unfortunately, I was admitted to hospital due to being unwell and wasn’t able to go ahead. I didn’t “chicken out,” I simply prioritised my health at the time.<\/p>\n

“I’ve since been invited back to comment on others’ behaviour.”<\/p>\n

“After reflecting on my own behaviour at the dinner party, I don’t feel it’s appropriate or aligned for me to sit there and critique anyone else.
