Intense rainfall, severe thunderstorms and dangerous flash flooding are set to drench parts of NSW this week. <\/p>\n
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe weather warning on Tuesday for the northwest NSW region with heavy, locally intense rainfall predicted.<\/p>\n
Dangerous flash flooding is anticipated in the Upper Western District this week concentrating closer to the South Australian border. <\/p>\n
Senior meteorologist for the bureau Dean Narramore said that \u201cwidespread rainfalls could reach 100 to 200mm which will cause major flooding and some major issues \u2026 until Thursday.\u201d <\/p>\n
Areas that could be heavily impacted include Northwestern NSW, such as Tibooburra, White Cliffs, Wanaaring, Louth, Tilpa and Fords Bridge. <\/p>\n
\u201cHigher rainfalls could include 250mm to 300mm at the end of the week \u2026 this kind of rainfall is going to cause some big issues,\u201d Mr Narramore said. <\/p>\n
An extreme tropical low-pressure system has been building since the weekend from central inland Australia, interacting with a cold front and upper trough that brought thunderstorms and rainfall to parts of NSW. <\/p>\n
The bureau is forecasting scattered showers and thunderstorms elsewhere in the states east and southeast regions, with rainfall reaching from 20 to 30mm in some parts of the state.<\/p>\n
Since 9am on Monday, rainfall in Tibooburra was forecast to have accumulated 20mm of rain in just a few hours.<\/p>\n
Sky News Weather predicted the chance of rainfall in Sydney to have increased to 60 per cent by Wednesday, with a low of 22C and high of 30C, peaking at 70 per cent chance of rainfall on Saturday and Sunday, with tops of 27C and 26C. <\/p>\n
The bureau has issued a Flood Watch for Queensland, South Australia and the Northern Territory. <\/p>\n
