Know the news with the 7NEWS app: Download today Arrow<\/a><\/p>\n After just 1.6mm arrived in Melbourne\u2019s<\/a> rain gauge for the entire month of January, there has now been 28mm in February, thanks to 11mm falling yesterday.<\/p>\n Adelaide is even drier.<\/p>\n Exactly 0.0mm into the gauge in the entirety of January, and only 3.6mm so far this February. Yesterday\u2019s rain didn\u2019t quite make a splash in the city.<\/p>\n Others had a lot more.<\/p>\n Directly under severe thunderstorms, it was a very different story. Huge feeds of tropical moisture have fuelled incredible downpours, with 116mm at Victoria\u2019s Mt Buller, 103mm in Wodonga and even 43mm in Swan Hill. Northeastern South Australia<\/a> had 66mm at Blinman, while Yunta had 28mm and Swan Reach 26mm.<\/p>\n But yesterday\u2019s rain was just the first wave in what is shaping up to be a huge week.<\/p>\n The feed of tropical moisture is not likely to disappear for some time, and that will lead to wave after wave of rain and storms, whenever the weather pattern lets it funnel down into the southeast.<\/p>\n The next big day is Tuesday. Melbourne is in the firing line this time, with the potential for severe thunderstorms bringing heavy rain leading to flash flooding. Rather than the slow and steady rain of Sunday, this will be more hit and miss with the potential for huge falls.<\/p>\n Tuesday\u2019s activity is likely to impact western NSW and much of Victoria, but miss South Australia.
