A high school secretary has been charged after her husband \u201ccaught her in bed on Valentine\u2019s Day\u201d with an 18-year-old pupil and subsequently beat her earlier this month.<\/p>\n

Alicia Hughes, who was working at Randolph East School Corporation in Indiana was allegedly found by her husband on February 14 having sex with a student from the school.<\/p>\n

Ms Hughes\u2019 husband then allegedly beat her, before she called police to their Union City home \u201cfor battery\u201d, according to the New York Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After the incident, a 17-year-old boy came forward to police, alleging he had had sex with the 31-year-old Ms Hughes \u201cat least five times\u201d, which began in a car outside a discount store.<\/p>\n

In shocking footage, Ms Hughes admitted \u201cthe physical thing\u201d with the 18-year-old had been going on for about a month before it was uncovered during a police interview.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the third time that I have been with him,\u201d Ms Hughes said.<\/p>\n

She later stated the physical relationship did not begin before the teenager was 18.<\/p>\n

After confronted with the claims from the 17-year-old boy, Ms Hughes denied having sex with other students while in the police interview, but admitted to meeting the child at the discount store and sending pictures to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI never slept with him,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Ms Hughes also alleges her husband, with whom she has three children, was physically and mentally abusing her, although she said this did not justify her actions with either the 17 or 18-year-old.<\/p>\n

It is unclear whether Ms Hughes\u2019 husband will face charges.<\/p>\n

According to Law&Crime, Ms Hughes\u2019 husband had also filed for divorce just days before, as well as emergency custody for their children.<\/p>\n

Ms Hughes was then handcuffed and charged with five counts of child seduction, which could come with a penalty of six years in prison and a $14,159fine on each charge.<\/p>\n

The charge of \u2018child seduction\u2019 is unique to Indiana law, which refers to teachers and guardians \u201cin positions of trust\u201d engaging in sexual activity with minors aged between 16 and 18, according to news.com.au<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Randolph East School Corporation superintendent Neal Adams says the allegations have been taken \u201cextremely seriously\u201d and that Ms Hughes had been removed from her job at the school pending the outcome of the case.<\/p>\n

\u201cUpon becoming aware of concerns, the corporation fully co-operated with law enforcement and will continue to do so as the investigation proceeds,\u201d Superintendent Adams said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe appreciate the professionalism and diligence of local authorities in handling this matter.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause this is an active criminal investigation, and to protect the privacy of students and the integrity of the process, RESC will not comment further on specific details at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n
