A\ufeffustralian company WiseTech Global is set to cut 2000 jobs as part of an artificial intelligence<\/a>-related “efficiency” drive.<\/p>\n

The software logistics company announced in its half-year report that \ufeffthe next phase of its efficiency program would start in the latter half of the 2026 financial year.<\/p>\n

“As part of WiseTech’s long-term strategic focus on higher-margin recurring revenue, and WiseTech’s commitment to building a higher-performance culture, this program will likely result in a reduction of approximately 2000 roles in FY26 and into FY27,” the company said in a statement to ASX.<\/p>\n

The company said the program aimed to reduce team headcount numbers by up to 50 per cent, initially across product and development, and customer service sections.<\/p>\n

These changes will also affect the recently acquired e2open.<\/p>\n

The company said that AI developments were\ufeff changing the face of the business.<\/p>\n

“I am prepared to say this clearly: the era of manually writing code as the core act of engineering is over,” chief executive Zubin Appoo said.<\/p>\n

“AI amplifies the productivity of our expertise in logistics and trade, the rich datasets that WiseTech holds, and the network advantage that we have built over 30 years.”<\/p>\n

Appoo said the company’s ongoing AI rollout was expected to deliver a “leaner” and “more efficient” organisation.\ufeff<\/p>\n
