Neve Campbell recently told CBS Mornings<\/a> that she \u201cdidn\u2019t think I could live with myself\u201d if she accepted the offer return for \u201cScream 6.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I made that decision, I just didn\u2019t think I could live with myself walking on set,\u201d Campbell said. \u201cI just didn\u2019t feel right. I just knew that my value to this franchise was bigger than what had been offered. For me, I needed to make that choice.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cWhen I said goodbye to it, I thought that was it. I knew that there was a good chance that would be it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Campbell explained that although it was tough knowing that the \u201cScream 6\u201d production team was \u201chaving their first day of shooting and I wasn\u2019t there,\u201d she ultimately knew she made the \u201cright\u201d decision to bow out of the film.<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cAnd when I spoke out about it, it wasn\u2019t really to sort of rally everybody. It was really just my truth at the time, and the fact the people got behind me, I got lovely support, and that was nice. And I do feel that other people need to make those choices.\u201d<\/p>\n

Campbell, the longtime face of the \u201cScream\u201d franchise, told Variety in 2022 that she would not be returning for the sixth installment because she felt \u201cthe offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSadly, I won\u2019t be making the next \u2018Scream\u2019 film,\u201d Campbell said in a statement to Variety<\/a>. \u201cAs a woman I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to \u2018Scream.\u2019 I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise. It\u2019s been a very difficult decision to move on. To all my \u2018Scream\u2019 fans, I love you. You\u2019ve always been so incredibly supportive to me. I\u2019m forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Campbell will return for \u201cScream 7\u201d after her salary dispute, joining fellow original cast members David Arquette, Matthew Lillard and Courteney Cox. Kevin Williamson, who wrote the first \u201cScream,\u201d serves as director.<\/p>\n
