The driver of the car involved in a crash that killed two members of Anthony Joshua<\/a>‘s team has appeared in court in Nigeria<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Heavyweight boxer Joshua was travelling in a vehicle near Lagos with his personal trainer Latif Ayodele and strength coach Sina Ghami in December.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ayodele and Ghami, both 36, were killed when the vehicle collided with a stationary lorry, with Joshua taken to hospital for treatment and later flying home to the UK, where he attended their funerals.<\/p>\n

The driver of Joshua’s vehicle, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care and driving without a valid licence.<\/p>\n

The 46-year-old appeared at Sagamu Magistrates Court on Wednesday, with his case adjourned to March 13 after prosecutors told the court they needed more time to prepare evidence.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kayode has yet to enter a plea. He originally appeared in court in January, and did not speak during the hearing. He was previously released from custody after being granted bail of around \u00a32,600.<\/p>\n

Joshua, 36, paid a heartfelt tribute to his friends after the crash and vowed: ‘My goal is to help their families and to help them achieve their goals, even though they may not be here in the physical.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘I will be saying my prayers, and I’m going to help them fulfil their dreams for their families. It’s not only me though helping. There’s a whole team working on that stuff.<\/p>\n

He added: ‘There is a whole system that will be helping fulfil their legacy, fulfil their dreams. But I know in my corner of the world, I know what I’m doing, and I know what we’re gonna do to continue there.<\/p>\n

‘I’m gonna do what’s right by their family. It’s about what’s important to me, and they’re very important players, very important team, with very important friends and two of my brothers.’<\/p>\n

Joshua has also had the names tattooed on his right arm.<\/p>\n
