{"id":504559,"date":"2026-02-26T04:43:17","date_gmt":"2026-02-26T04:43:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/504559\/"},"modified":"2026-02-26T04:43:17","modified_gmt":"2026-02-26T04:43:17","slug":"supercars-rules-out-2027-international-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/504559\/","title":{"rendered":"Supercars rules out 2027 international series"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BEFORE even officially starting his second stint as Supercars chief, James Warburton made no bones about ambitions to launch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/explaining-supercars-new-look-international-push\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a standalone series abroad<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The concept centred around having multiple rounds in Asia and\/or the Middle East in an effort to lift Supercars\u2019 global footprint, provide more frequent on-track content and improve its financial position.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking last June, the initial mooted timeline was for a 2027 debut.<\/p>\n<p>The talks have seemingly gotten quieter since, so it\u2019s no surprise that Warburton confirmed to V8 Sleuth that 2027 is now off the table.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToo ambitious,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/v8-sleuth-magazine-subscription?utm_source=SRBuyButton&amp;utm_medium=website\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/v8-sleuth-magazine-issue-2-subscription_1024x1024.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re continuing to chip away in the background but nothing to report at this stage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we have got to be focused on, is we\u2019ve got to make sure Australia is right \u2013 and I think we\u2019re very happy with our progress, but we\u2019ve got more to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added of the international initiative: \u201cWe have got to do it properly. You can\u2019t just have a blaze in (half-hearted).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What about the much-vaunted hunt for a fresh New South Wales street circuit, whereby <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/options-surface-for-supercars-next-nsw-street-circuit\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wollongong and Central Coast have been highlighted<\/a> as the top candidates?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re active in discussions and exploring the possibilities, but there\u2019s a lot to it,\u201d said Warburton.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/2023_Supercars_Rd1_10877-Social-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-111836\"  \/>New South Wales\u2019 presence on the Supercars calendar has dropped to two annual events since the demise of Newcastle.
