ahead of Friday&#8217;s second ODI match between the two sides in Hobart.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">After India trumped its hosts 2-1 in the T20 series, <a class=\"Link_link__kR0xA Link_link__5eL5m ScreenReaderOnly_srLinkHint__OysWz Link_showVisited__C1Fea Link_showFocus__ALyv2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2026-02-24\/australia-rocked-by-injuries-for-odi-against-india\/106382088\" data-component=\"Link\" data-uri=\"coremedia:\/\/article\/106382088\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Australia hit back with a comprehensive six-wicket win in the first 50-match in Brisbane on Tuesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Australia&#8217;s bowlers restricted India to 4-217, with Gardner taking 3-33.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The home side made light work of the run chase, with Beth Mooney (76), Alyssa Healy (50) and Annabel Sutherland (48 not out) dominant in reaching their target with 84 balls to spare.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Gardner said Australia brought the best elements of its game together in Brisbane.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2026-02-24\/australia-rocked-by-injuries-for-odi-against-india\/106382088\" data-component=\"FullBleedLink\" class=\"RelatedCard_link__rsgR9 FullBleedLink_root__lTw_U interactive_focusContext__yRhc_ interactive_defaults__AKxUU FullBleedLink_showVisited__g3Xvz\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Australia wins first ODI against India by six wickets<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP RelatedCard_synopsis__cFwMW Typography_sizeMobile14__u7TGe Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Half-centuries to Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney help lead Australia to a six-wicket win over India in the first ODI.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;We have played some good cricket along the way and have played some not-so good cricket in patches as well,&#8221; Gardner told reporters in Hobart.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;So being able for us to string that together, I felt like that last game was kind of a perfect performance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;I thought the bowlers really set the tone and then we chased down that total pretty convincingly.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Gardner said Australia was rewarded for not focusing on India&#8217;s strengths.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;What we did really well was just focus on ourselves and make sure [we kept] our game plan really simple,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;That&#8217;s obviously what we&#8217;re going to have to do tomorrow as well, make sure we&#8217;re adapting to whatever is in front of us.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;The other day, bowling first was probably what we wanted to do and it (batting) was pretty challenging early.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;In both innings, those first 10 overs were going to be the most challenging.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;We know they (India) want to take the game on \u2026 just being able to adapt, full stop, is our mode going forward.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">After Friday&#8217;s match, Australia and India will wrap up the series with the third ODI, which will also be played at Hobart&#8217;s Bellerive Oval.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">AAP<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Ash Gardner has described Australia&#8217;s series-opening win against India as the &#8220;perfect performance&#8221;
