\n\tDozens of pro-Palestine protesters marched outside the Los Angeles premiere for Scream 7<\/a> on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

\n\tSome demonstrators could be seen waving Palestinian flags, while others were holding signs that read \u201cCancel Paramount+\u201d and \u201cStand For Free Speech Boycott Scream 7.\u201d The group could also be heard chanting \u201cBoycott Scream 7\u201d and \u201cFree, free, free Palestine,\u201d while some played drums and trumpets.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe premiere took place at the Paramount Studios lot; however, the protests could only be faintly heard from the red carpet, where the film\u2019s stars, like Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox, were posing for photos.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen director Kevin Williamson was asked about the protest at the premiere, he told The Hollywood Reporter, \u201cI saw them and my heart just sort of stopped. Look, we live in America. Everyone has a right to protest and everyone should be heard. And if you have your truth and if you want to stand up and be heard, you protest. That is your right in this country, and I stand by it. I support that 100 percent.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe protest, which was led by Entertainment Labor for Palestine, CODEPINK LA and Jewish Voice for Peace-Los Angeles, aimed to call \u201cattention to the industry\u2019s widespread silencing of pro-Palestinian voices and its whitewashing of Israel\u2019s ongoing genocide in Gaza,\u201d according to a news release from CODEPINK LA. <\/p>\n

\n\tMore specifically, the protest was also in response to Melissa Barrera<\/a>\u2018s firing from Scream 7<\/a> in November 2023 after she expressed support for Palestine on her social media after Hamas invaded Israel in October 2023.<\/p>\n

\n\tSpyglass Media Group, the company behind the\u00a0Scream\u00a0franchise, said in a statement at the time, \u201cSpyglass\u2019 stance is unequivocally clear: We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe CODEPINK LA news release added that the protest was to \u201craise awareness about the\u00a0Boycott\u00a0Scream 7\u00a0campaign and urge audiences to refrain from supporting the film,\u201d which releases on Feb. 27.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe believe that Melissa Barrera is a part of the\u00a0Scream\u00a0community and that it\u2019s our responsibility to speak out when a member of our community has been harmed,\u201d Boycott\u00a0Scream 7\u00a0organizer and longtime fan, Nino Testa, shared in a statement. \u201cWe refuse to let the franchise we love be used as propaganda for a genocide. We reject Hollywood\u2019s racist blacklisting and censorship of any person who advocates for a free Palestine.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tTHR has reached out to Paramount for comment, but did not hear back at the time of publication.<\/p>\n
