The Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro keep the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/24195011\/samsung-galaxy-buds-3-pro-hands-on-preview-features\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">AirPods-esque design of the Buds 3<\/a>, but now have a flat metal surface along the stem\u2019s exterior.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">The regular buds use a single 11mm dynamic speaker and do not have silicone ear tips, while the Buds 4 Pro have a selection of silicone ear tips and a two-way design (meaning a woofer for lower frequencies and a tweeter for the high end), just like the Buds 3 Pro. There\u2019s a 5.5mm planar tweeter and a new 11mm \u201csuper wide woofer\u201d with an effective area nearly 20 percent larger than the last generation, which leads to 50 percent less distortion, according to Samsung.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Pricing will stay the same as the 3, with the Buds 4 available for $179 and the Pro version for $249. It\u2019s right in line with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/24245570\/apple-airpods-4-review\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">AirPods 4 with ANC<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/headphone-review\/777798\/airpods-pro-3-review-active-noise-cancelling-live-translation-headphones\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">AirPods Pro 3<\/a>. Preorder for <a rel=\"sponsored nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/howl.link\/um0yiey4g3ntj\" target=\"_blank\">both Galaxy Buds 4 starts today<\/a>, February 25th, with an on-sale date of March 11th. They\u2019re both available in black and white, with a pink gold version for the Pro only online.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Both buds include active noise canceling, ambient sound mode, adaptive EQ, and adaptive ANC \u2014 although the Pro version has better adaptive ANC. Samsung says the Buds 4 Pro have a 3dB increase in ANC performance (but to what frequencies we\u2019re not sure). It\u2019s all very reminiscent of the AirPods\u2019 features, but without the heart rate monitoring and hearing assistance Apple has added to the Pro line.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">The buds use Bluetooth 6.1 and support Auracast, as well as Samsung\u2019s proprietary Samsung Seamless Codec (SSC) with 24-bit\/96kHz ultra-high-quality (UHQ) audio, AAC, SBC, and LC3 codecs. UHQ requires models released during 2023 \u2014 like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/23610777\/samsung-galaxy-s23-plus-review-camera-battery-screen-specs\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">S23 series<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/23826325\/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-5-review-screen-hinge-battery-camera\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Z Fold 5<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/23820202\/samsung-galaxy-z-flip-5-review-screen-battery-camera-hinge\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Z Flip 5<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/23835595\/samsung-galaxy-tab-s9-plus-ultra-tablet-review\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tab S9 series<\/a> \u2014 or newer. Both buds also support Samsung\u2019s spatial audio on phones that run on One UI 4.1.1 or later \u2014 basically everything from the S21 and up.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Samsung says both models should have marginally better battery life than the Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro. This year\u2019s Pro model provides up to seven hours of playtime or six hours with ANC (the case provides an additional 30 hours or 26 with ANC), while the regular Buds 4 will get up to six hours or five with ANC on (also 30 hours more with the case or 26 with ANC). The cases for both models support wireless charging. Hopefully, the Buds Pro 4 can fix that.
