\n\tAs the stars of Scream<\/a> 7 gathered Wednesday at Paramount Studios for the slasher sequel\u2019s world premiere, \u201cFree Palestine\u201d protesters lined up<\/a> outside the entrance to the lot.<\/p>\n

\n\tMore than two years after she was fired from the franchise<\/a> for speaking up about the Israel-Hamas<\/a> conflict, Melissa Barrera<\/a> seemingly reacted to the show of support from protesters boycotting the Kevin Williamson-helmed movie.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI see you,\u201d wrote Barrera on her Instagram Story with a heart emoji.<\/p>\n

\n\tMeanwhile, Williamson commented on the protest<\/a> as he walked the red carpet inside the lot. \u201cWe live in America. We have the right to protest. They have the right to be heard, and they have a right to speak to what your truth is, and I support that,\u201d he told Deadline.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe protest was led by members of Entertainment Labor for Palestine<\/a>, CodePink LA and Jewish Voice for Peace-Los Angeles, meant to call attention \u201cto the industry\u2019s widespread silencing of pro-Palestinian voices and its whitewashing of Israel\u2019s ongoing genocide in Gaza.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter the first trailer<\/a> for Scream 7<\/a> was released in October, fans quickly began slamming the movie on social media, calling for a boycott<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tSpyglass fired Barrera<\/a> in November 2023 over her social media posts on the Israel-Hamas conflict and the \u201catrocities being committed against Palestinians,\u201d explaining the company has \u201czero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFollowing her ousting, Jenna Ortega also exited the franchise<\/a>, later noting that the sequel \u201cwas all kind of falling apart<\/a>\u201d without Barrera to play its new \u2018final girl\u2019 Sam Carpenter. Director Christopher Landon dropped out of the project<\/a> as well, citing \u201chighly aggressive and really scary\u201d death threats targeting his children<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tCampbell was then brought back to reprise her role<\/a> as OG \u201cfinal girl\u201d Sidney Campbell in March 2024, with original Scream (1996) writer Williamson on board to direct.
