The apartment was converted from two of the squash courts, with one court becoming the bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living space.

The other court was retained as a massive open space, which is what drew the current owner to the home when it was last on the market in 2021.

The ring, backboard and court markings were installed as part of a major renovation of the apartment, which included modernising the kitchen and bathrooms.

The court itself features a mezzanine accessed by a spiral staircase, which once served as a viewing deck for the squash court.

The property listing suggests the loft area could serve as a home office or creative studio, but it could potentially also double as a commentators box for a family face-off.

The enormous double-height room proved an appealing feature, even for buyers who weren’t necessarily looking for an indoor basketball court, said selling agent Emma Milner of Ray White Dalkeith Claremont.

A loft was converted from the former squash court’s viewing deck.
