After a commercial break, the anchor came back on air and announced to viewers \u2013 and the crew \u2013 that Paramount Skydance had, just a few moments before, moved into position to become <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/tv\/news\/netflix-declines-raise-bid-warner-bros-discovery-1236674149\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the presumptive new owner <\/a>of CNN owner <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/warner-bros-discovery\/\" id=\"auto-tag_warner-bros-discovery\" data-tag=\"warner-bros-discovery\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Warner Bros. Discovery<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tTapper went on the air with a \u201cBreaking News\u201d banner, saying, \u201cWe have some breaking news in our national lead that affects everybody I\u2019m looking at right now in the studio. Moments ago, Netflix said it is declining to raise its offer for the purchase of Warner Bros. Studios and HBO, following the Warner Bros. Discovery board\u2019s determination that Paramount \u2014 which is not just going for Warner Bros. Studios and HBO, but also the whole enchilada, including us here at CNN. Paramount has submitted a \u2018superior offer,\u2019 according to Warner Bros. Discovery\u2019s board. As I\u2019ve noted, Warner Bros. Discovery is the parent company of CNN.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tNetflix said Thursday it would not match Paramount\u2019s increased bid of $111 million for Warner Bros.
