Inspirational NSW fast bowler Chris Tremain has announced his retirement from cricket\u00a0at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season.<\/p>\n
The 34-year-old\u00a0has called time on his career following a setback in his recovery from a rare neurological\u00a0shoulder\u00a0condition that has\u00a0prevented\u00a0him\u00a0from\u00a0bowling for the past\u00a0two years.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
A product of Yeoval in Central West New South Wales, Tremain proudly\u00a0represented\u00a0the Blues in 29 First Class and nine List A matches across two stanzas of his 14-year career, claiming a cumulative 122 wickets.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Tremain\u2019s first\u00a0NSW\u00a0appearance came\u00a0in a One-Day Cup fixture against Western Australia\u00a0in February 2012, before receiving his baggy blue a fortnight later, taking six wickets on Sheffield Shield debut against Victoria at the MCG.\u00a0<\/p>\n
By mid-2014,\u00a0Tremain\u00a0had\u00a0relocated\u00a0to Melbourne, going\u00a0on\u00a0to claim\u00a0209 wickets in\u00a054 First Class matches\u00a0for Victoria. In six years\u00a0with his adopted state, he\u00a0played in\u00a0three Sheffield Shield and\u00a0a\u00a0One-Day Cup title-winning side, while also\u00a0being crowned the 2017-18 Sheffield Shield Player of the Year.\u00a0<\/p>\n
These outstanding performances saw Tremain regularly in\u00a0contention for higher honours\u00a0– while a baggy green eluded\u00a0him,\u00a0he was rewarded\u00a0with four ODI caps against South Africa in 2016, claiming best figures of 3-64 in his final appearance.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The paceman\u2019s skill and\u00a0versatility also made him a BBL regular with both Sydney Thunder\u00a0(26\u00a0matches\u00a0across two stints) and the Melbourne Renegades (23\u00a0matches) across nine seasons in the competition.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In 2020-21, Tremain returned to his home\u00a0state in a bid for further silverware, harnessing his extensive First-Class experience to lead a young and rebuilding attack.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
A\u00a0final on-field campaign with the Blues in\u00a02023-24 was his most prolific,\u00a0topping the\u00a0Sheffield Shield\u00a0bowling tally with 50 wickets.\u00a0That\u00a0season was\u00a0the\u00a0fourth\u00a0most\u00a0prolific\u00a0for\u00a0a\u00a0NSW bowler in the\u00a0competition\u00a0behind\u00a0Stuart\u00a0MacGill\u00a0(54 wickets,\u00a02004-05), Bill O\u2019Reilly (52, 1939-40) and Trent Copeland (52, 2018-19).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThis game has been both the most rewarding and challenging experience of my life so far. The colours of the hats and the faces in the change rooms constantly changed but the desire to compete and win with my teammates endured.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cA part of the journey is the end and without the support of family,\u00a0friends\u00a0and associates throughout the fray my experiences leading up to its culmination would look vastly different.\u00a0<\/p>\n
