{"id":509478,"date":"2026-02-28T10:08:07","date_gmt":"2026-02-28T10:08:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/509478\/"},"modified":"2026-02-28T10:08:07","modified_gmt":"2026-02-28T10:08:07","slug":"lincoln-fitness-initiative-helps-paralysed-man-stand-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/509478\/","title":{"rendered":"Lincoln fitness initiative helps paralysed man stand again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A paralysed former bodybuilder says going to fitness classes has made an &#8220;amazing difference&#8221; to his life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Kevin Jenkins, 62, from Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, had an aortic dissection in 2023 which led to him becoming paralysed from the waist down and needing a wheelchair.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">After 18 months of NHS physiotherapy, he joined a non-profit group in Lincoln which aims to make physical activity accessible to everyone and is run by former army physical trainer Rob Wilkins.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Kevin thought he would &#8220;never be able to stand up again&#8221; but is now able to get himself in and out of his wheelchair.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A paralysed former bodybuilder says going to fitness classes has made an &#8220;amazing difference&#8221; to his life.
