Qatar Airways is the first of the major airlines to suspend all flights to and from its capital Doha as conflict between Israel and Iran escalates in the Middle East.<\/a><\/p>\n

Qatari airspace was closed on Saturday due to missile attacks between Israel and Iran, with the latter targeting US military bases in Doha.<\/p>\n

The US earlier aided Israel in launching an air and sea attack on Iran after the country reportedly refused to stop its nuclear ambitions with negotiations taking place earlier in the month unable to reach a resolution.<\/p>\n

US President Donald Trump said Iran<\/a> has been perpetrating \u201cmass terror\u201d and the US \u201cisn\u2019t going to put up with it any longer\u201d.<\/p>\n

Iran then launched a wave of missiles and drone attacks at Israel and at US military installations in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar to \u201cdefend the homeland and confront the enemy\u2019s military assault\u201d, its foreign ministry said.<\/p>\n

Qatar airways suspended all arrivals and departures from Doha on Saturday as a result of the escalating conflict.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe airline is working closely with government stakeholders and the relevant authorities to support impacted passengers and will resume operations when the airspace re-opens,\u201d the airline said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce usual operations resume, we anticipate delays to our flight schedule.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have also deployed additional ground staff at Hamad International Airport and other key airports to assist affected passengers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe safety of our passengers and employees is always our highest priority, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.\u201d<\/p>\n

Flights from Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth turned back to Australia when Qatar Airways announced the flight suspension.<\/p>\n

Airspace over Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, United Arab \u200cEmirates, Lebanon, Bahrain and Jordan was empty early on Saturday as airlines avoided the region due to the conflict.<\/p>\n

Dubai Airports said that all flights in and out of Dubai\u2019s two main airports \u2014 including Dubai International, which is considered the world\u2019s busiest airport for international passenger traffic \u2014 have been suspended until further notice.<\/p>\n

\u201cDubai Airports confirms that all flight operations at Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central \u2013 Al Maktoum International (DWC) are suspended until further notice,\u201d according to a statement from the Dubai Media Office.<\/p>\n

\u201cPassengers are advised not to travel to the airport at this time and to contact their respective airlines directly for the latest updates regarding their flights.\u201d<\/p>\n

Emirates said it has temporarily suspended its operations to and from Dubai due to the airspace closures.<\/p>\n

The airline urged customers to check online for updates.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are continuously monitoring the situation and communicating with the relevant authorities,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n

\u201cEmirates adheres to all regulatory requirements and follows guidance issued by aviation authorities.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe apologise to affected customers for any inconvenience caused by these disruptions, and we are working to assist them with rebooking, ticket refunds, or alternative travel arrangements.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other airlines including British Airways, Japan Airlines, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines, and Wizz Air have halted flights to and from the region.<\/p>\n
