<\/p>\nSydneysiders have been warned to be on high alert after a person with no known exposure to the measles was confirmed to be carrying the disease.<\/p>\n
NSW Health issued a warning on Saturday, advising those in South Western Sydney to be on alert for symptoms of the highly contagious disease following the confirmed case.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis person has had no known contact with anyone else with measles and did not attend any known exposure locations in Sydney,\u201d a spokesman said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the source of the infection unknown, it is likely measles is currently circulating within the community, and other people may have been unknowingly exposed to measles.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe person visited several locations across South Western Sydney while unknowingly infectious, including healthcare facilities.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to the most recent entries on the NSW Health exposure site list, the patient visited \u200bMy Family Health Medical Centre in Gregory Hills on February 19 and 25, Campbelltown Hospital Emergency Department on February 22 and 25, Fresh and Hot Restaurant in Wolli Creek on February 22.<\/p>\n
Anyone who was at those locations should watch for symptoms of measles, but they pose no ongoing risk to the public.<\/p>\n

South Western Sydney Local Health District Acting Director of Public Health, Dr Stephen Conaty, said anyone experiencing symptoms should seek medical advice from a doctor or hospital as soon as possible \u2013 but call ahead to avoid exposing others.<\/p>\n
\u201cSymptoms to watch out for include fever, sore eyes, runny nose and a cough, usually followed three or four days later by a red, blotchy rash that spreads from the head and face to the rest of the body,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnyone with early symptoms who gets a rash a few days later should also think about measles, even if they haven\u2019t attended one of the identified locations, and seek testing.<\/p>\n
