A TAMIL music veteran artiste will receive RM2,000 monthly pension, thanks to the efforts and contributions of local artistes and community leaders, Makkal Osai reported.<\/p>\n
Iconic RTM announcer and award-winning newsreader V. Arumugam started the initiative to provide a monthly pension for renowned artiste N. Mariappan, 93, to ensure he is able to cover expenses in his old age.<\/p>\n
The effort has received support from retired RTM personnel and other well-wishers who helped raise the money for the pension fund.<\/p>\n
The fund was handed over to Mariappan by National Land Finance Cooperative Society (NLFCS) managing director Datuk B. Sahadevan during a get-together at a restaurant in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur.<\/p>\n
