He was one of 10 players who competed for the 2025 USA Walker Cup Team on Sept. 6-7 at Cypress Point Club (Pebble Beach, Calif.) in the 50th Walker Cup Match. Morrison posted a 2-1 record at the 2025 Walker Cup and helped the Americans claim a 17-9 victory over Great Britain & Ireland. In Sunday morning’s foursomes action, he paired with Auburn’s Jackson Koivun and rallied for a 1-up victory over Connor Graham and Tyler Weaver. In Sunday afternoon’s singles play, Morrison earned another full point for Team USA with a 3 & 2 win against Niall Shiels Donegan. Morrison is the 12th player in Texas program history to compete for Team USA in the prestigious event. Previous Longhorns to play in the Walker Cup include: Ed White (1936), Tom Kite (1971), Justin Leonard (1993), Brad Elder (1997), David Gossett (1999), Jordan Spieth (2011), Beau Hossler (2015), Doug Ghim (2017), Scottie Scheffler (2017), Cole Hammer (2019 and 2021) and Pierceson Coody (2021).

Trio Impresses at World Amateur Team Champs: Christiaan Maas won the individual title by 10 strokes and paired with Daniel Bennett to pace Team South Africa to the team crown at the 2025 World Amateur Team Championships (Oct. 8-11) at the Tanah Merah Country Club in Singapore. All three current Longhorns who participated in the prestigious tournament placed in the top 10 of the final individual standings, as Eduardo Derbez Torres (Mexico) tied for sixth and Bennett tied for eighth. South Africa completed the tourney with a 72-hole score of 29-under 547 to claim an eight-shot victory over runner-up Australia at 21-under 555. England placed third at 19-under 557, and Mexico earned a fourth-place team finish at 17-under 559. This marked the first team championship for South Africa in tournament history, as its previous best finish was a silver medal in 1980. Mexico registered its first top-five finish at the event since earning silver in 2012, its only medalist performance in the championship. Maas became the first individual from South Africa and first from the African continent to win the Eisenhower Trophy with a four-round score of 22-under 266 (66-66-65-69), 10 shots in front of runner-up Declan O’Conovan (Australia) at 12-under 276. Maas’ score of 266 tied the second-lowest individual mark in championship history, matching the score of Victor Perez (France), Lucas Herbert (Australia) and Alejandro Tosti (Argentina) in 2014 in Japan. Spain’s Jon Rahm set the low 72-hole total in championship history in 2014 with a mark of 263. Derbez Torres tied for sixth with a four-round total of 8-under 280 (69-78-64-69), while Bennett tied for eighth in the 108-player field at 7-under 281 (73-69-67-72).

Maas Turns Heads in Dubai: Christiaan Maas did not participate in the team’s spring opener at the Arizona N.I.T., as he had just finished competing in the DP World Tour’s Hero Dubai Desert Classic (Jan. 22-25). Maas did much more than simply compete, as he claimed low amateur honors with a tie for 10th-place finish at Emirates Golf Club. He received an exemption into the prestigious Rolex Series event courtesy of his current No. 2 ranking PGA TOUR University. Maas fired a 72-hole score of 6-under 282 (70-71-69-72). The lone amateur in the field to advance to the weekend after making the 36-hole cut, Maas placed higher in the final standings than several current top-100 OWGR players, including Viktor Hovland (t-14 at 5-under), Thomas Detry (t-14 at 5-under), Shane Lowry (t-26 at 3-under), Rory McIlroy (t-33 at 2-under), Tyrrell Hatton (t-33 at 2-under) and Tommy Fleetwood (t-41 at 1-under).

Bennett Set to Compete in PGA TOUR Event: Daniel Bennett will not make the trip to Las Vegas for the Southern Highland Collegiate, as he will be in the field at the PGA TOUR’s Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard on March 5-8 at Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Fla. Bennett earned his spot in the signature event through the Arnold Palmer Cup exemption, as he competed for the winning Team International squad at the 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup last summer (June 5-7) at Congaree Golf Club (Ridgeland, S.C.).

Dramatic Team Victory at the Arizona N.I.T.: Despite playing without Christiaan Maas, Texas carded a three-round score of 41-under 823 (275-270-278) to finish one stroke ahead of tourney host Arizona (40-under 824) in the Arizona N.I.T. The Wildcats held a one-stroke lead entering the 54th and final hole of the tournament (shotgun start format), before Arizona’s William Wistrand made a bogey on hole 18 to drop the Wildcats into a tie with the Longhorns. That set the stage for Morrison, who hit a beautiful pitch to within two feet on his third shot on the par-five 2nd hole. Morrison then sank his birdie putt to seal the team championship for Texas. Luke Potter claimed a runner-up finish in the individual standings at 12-under 204 (66-68-70), Morrison placed fourth at 10-under 206 (70-66-70), and Daniel Bennett tied for eighth at 8-under 208 (71-71-66).

Runner-up Finish in Record-Breaking Scoring Effort at Amer Ari Invitational: The Longhorns finished as the runner-up at the Amer Ari Invitational on Feb. 5-7 at Mauna Lani Resort in Waimea, Hawaii.
