The Hurricanes<\/a> have announced the injury details of first-five Brett Cameron<\/a>, after his devastating leg injury during their opening game against Moana Pasifika<\/a> in round two.<\/p>\n

The one-Test All Black will miss the rest of the Super Rugby Pacific<\/a> season, having to undergo surgery on what the Hurricanes are calling a \u201csignificant knee injury\u201d.<\/p>\n

Cameron was named at No.10 in their first game of the season, and only managed 23 minutes before getting stretchered off the field with what looked like at the time, a lower leg injury.<\/p>\n

The first-five has missed the majority of recent seasons with long-term injuries, including last season\u2019s ACL injury that kept him out of action in the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season.<\/p>\n

Hurricanes head coach Clark Laidlaw explained how it\u2019s a tough situation to be in, especially with the quality that Cameron brings to his squad.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s obviously hugely disappointing to lose one of our best players in game one, especially given it comes after an ACL injury on his other knee,\u201d Laidlaw said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re here to support and help him through it, initially with the surgery and then with the rehab.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know it\u2019s a tough road ahead, but we also know that he\u2019s up for it and we\u2019re up for it to support and rehab him so he can get back to playing as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs tough as it is, we have amazing medics, a great facility, and we know how to rehab players really well, so we\u2019ll get on with that once the surgery has been done.\u201d<\/p>\n
