The cause of death of Oliver \u2019Power\u2019 Grant, the co-founder and longtime\u00a0associate of the\u00a0Wu-Tang Clan<\/a>, has been revealed.<\/p>\n

The producer and fashion mogul\u2019s passing was confirmed by the group\u2019s social media channels on Wednesday<\/a>\u00a0(February 25), with a caption reading: \u201cRest in Power, Power\u201d.\u00a0He was 52 years old.<\/p>\n

Now, it has been confirmed in a statement from Grant\u2019s family and the Wu-Tang Clan, shared with\u00a0Rolling Stone<\/a>, that he died after a \u201ccourageous and hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cA true fighter until the end, he\u00a0was surrounded by his mother, his children, his family, and his closest friends,\u201d the\u00a0tribute\u00a0stated.<\/p>\n

It described him as a \u201cproud product of the Park Hill neighborhood,\u201d\u00a0referring to the area of Staten Island, New York that he grew up in, alongside many of the members of the Wu-Tang Clan.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom those streets, he rose to become a visionary force, a pillar of the Wu-Tang family, and a global architect of culture,\u201d the statement\u00a0added. \u201cIt was the honor of his life to pour his love, wisdom, and brilliance into his family and his community. His impact was singular; there will never be another to take his place.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPower will always be loved, and his legacy will forever remain.\u00a0Greatness is not what you have, but what you give.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grant was born in 1973 in Jamaica and raised in Staten Island. He executive produced the group\u2019s early recordings, and oversaw their successful fashion line, Wu Wear, which launched in 1995.<\/p>\n

He\u00a0reportedly made\u00a0an early financial investment in Wu-Tang Clan in the early \u201990s, and raised funds for them to produce their debut single \u2018Protect Ya Neck\u2019. He later executive-produced their first album, 1993\u2019s \u2018Enter\u00a0The\u00a0Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)\u2019.<\/p>\n

After the news was first shared, several Wu-Tang members shared their own tributes.<\/p>\n

Method Man<\/a>\u00a0wrote: \u201cParadise my brother safe travels! I am not OK\u201d,\u00a0while\u00a0GZA<\/a>\u00a0said: \u201cWe\u00a0couldn\u2019t\u00a0have done it without him. Wu\u00a0wouldn\u2019t\u00a0have come to fruition without Power. His passing is a profound loss to us all. My deepest condolences to the fam.\u201d<\/p>\n

The news of Grant\u2019s passing follows the announcement that\u00a0Wu-Tang Clan have been nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame 2026<\/a>.
