{"id":515028,"date":"2026-03-03T02:09:09","date_gmt":"2026-03-03T02:09:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/515028\/"},"modified":"2026-03-03T02:09:09","modified_gmt":"2026-03-03T02:09:09","slug":"anna-camp-apologizes-for-sharing-scream-7-taunt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/515028\/","title":{"rendered":"Anna Camp Apologizes for Sharing &#8216;Scream 7&#8217; Taunt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/scream-7\/\" id=\"auto-tag_scream-7\" data-tag=\"scream-7\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Scream 7<\/a> star <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/anna-camp\/\" id=\"auto-tag_anna-camp\" data-tag=\"anna-camp\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Anna Camp<\/a> issued an apology for a statement she shared on social media that taunted those who protested the new movie in the wake of Melissa Barrera\u2019s controversial departure from the franchise. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tCamp shared another account\u2019s Instagram story that taunted: \u201cThe boycott didn\u2019t work. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/scream-7-rotten-tomatoes-score-reviews-critics-1236516391\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The critics\u2019 hate<\/a> didn\u2019t work. The pathetic leaks didn\u2019t work. What worked was audiences coming out and making the film a success.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe story was previously posted by the\u00a0Scream With Ryan C. Showers\u00a0podcast (below). On Monday, Camp deleted her post and wrote on X: \u201cIt has come to my attention that I reposted someone else\u2019s story that does not reflect my personal beliefs. I have since deleted the repost because I absolutely meant no harm. I\u2019m sorry to anyone who was affected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe boycott is in reference to uproar over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/melissa-barrera-fired-scream-vii-1235669458\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Barrera being ousted from Scream 7<\/a> in 2023 after appearing in the fifth and sixth movies in the franchise. Barrera wrote social media posts regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict which the film\u2019s production company, Spyglass Media Group, called antisemitic. Co-star Jenna Ortega soon left, as well, as did the film\u2019s original director, Christopher Landon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe project was eventually given a total overhaul with Kevin Williamson coming on board as director and original franchise star Neve Campbell returning. <a href=\"https:\/\/ew.com\/scream-7-premiere-pro-palestine-protesters-melissa-barrera-seemingly-responds-11914859\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The film\u2019s premiere drew<\/a> a small group of pro-Palestine protesters outside the Paramount Studios lot. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAs for the \u201ccritics\u2019 hate,\u201d that refers to the film getting the franchise\u2019s worst Rotten Tomatoes score, with just 34 percent, but its audience score is a hearty 78 percent. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tScream 7 opened to a franchise-best $64.1 million domestically and $33.1 million overseas for a global start of $97.2 million.
