Anthony Joshua continues his physical rehabilitation more than two months after the devastating car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two people close to him.<\/p>\n

The 36-year-old former heavyweight champion has been sharing footage on Snapchat showing intensive treatment being carried out on his ribs, which appears to involve painful therapeutic work. <\/p>\n

The crash on 29 December killed his personal trainer Kevin “Latz” Ayodele and his long-standing recovery therapist Sina Ghami.<\/p>\n

Joshua accompanied the images with a message: “Rehabilitation protocol. When you go thru certain things, you realise that you are stronger than you think you are.”<\/p>\n

The fatal collision occurred just 10 days after Joshua had secured a sixth-round knockout victory over YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in Miami.<\/p>\n

Ayodele had been a childhood friend of the boxer, while Ghami served as his dedicated recovery therapist for many years.<\/p>\n

Both men were described by Joshua as his “brothers.”<\/p>\n

Following the tragedy, the two-time heavyweight world champion was transported back to Britain within days of the incident to attend the funerals of his fallen companions.<\/p>\n

The accident has cast significant doubt over Joshua’s immediate boxing future, with his previously scheduled March bout now cancelled.<\/p>\n

Promoter Eddie Hearn remains confident that the two-time heavyweight champion will return to the ring, believing Joshua wants to honour the memory of his late friends. <\/p>\n

A comeback during the late summer months is becoming increasingly probable, with Hearn actively exploring opportunities for a July contest.<\/p>\n

However, the promoter has acknowledged that Joshua’s body has not yet recovered sufficiently for him to resume full training.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Boxing Scene in February, Hearn explained: “I’m planning, but he’s just resting and preparing. <\/p>\n

“So for me I’m looking at options to get him back in the ring in July time.”<\/p>\n

Hearn revealed that the original strategy had been for Joshua to compete in March before facing rival Tyson Fury, 37, in August. <\/p>\n

Those plans have now been abandoned entirely.<\/p>\n

“He’s not fighting Tyson Fury next. He’s going to come back I believe late summer, but physically he’s not yet in a position to return to camp,” Hearn added. <\/p>\n

The promoter indicated that the viability of a July return will only become clear once Joshua resumes training, which he hopes will happen within the coming weeks.<\/p>\n
